Why a Flower as a Logo for a Restoration Studio?

If you know me, you know how much I love nature and gardening. It’s not unusual for me to stop and admire a flower. But my logo represents more than just my love for nature – for me, it has a deep connection to restoration, and that’s what I want to share here.
Did you know that the GoldenBloom logo isn’t just any flower? It’s a strawberry blossom – taken from a very specific painting. My first encounter with this artwork was eleven years ago when I had just graduated and moved from Austria to the Netherlands for a job at a larger restoration studio. I didn’t yet know exactly where my path would lead me, but one thing was certain: one day, I would have my own restoration studio.
Full of enthusiasm and curiosity, I visited the Mauritshuis and was in awe of seeing so many famous paintings up close. Suddenly, I stood in front of Girl with a Pearl Earring – so close I could almost touch it. But the crowd around it became overwhelming, so I wandered into the smaller side rooms. There, in complete silence, I found myself standing in front of Still Life with Strawberries by Adriaen Coorte.
I had never heard of this artist before, but his work immediately captivated me. It was such a simple image – just a small pile of wild strawberries – yet it radiated serenity and confidence. Every brushstroke was placed with utmost precision, yet there was still room for chance, making the painting feel alive. I imagined that this artist must have worked with the same patience and care as a restorer touching up a painting with a tiny brush.
As I tried to decipher the painting’s symbolism, I couldn’t shake the connection to restoration. Suddenly, that pile of strawberries became a metaphor for my own journey: first, I would have to make my way through various experiences – some bitter, some sweet. But what would remain was the plant, carefully placed among the berries – my own studio. If I gave it my best, it would grow, bloom, and bear fruit.
Even now, when I face challenges in my work, I often think of this painting. That’s how the strawberry blossom became my logo – a symbol for my restoration studio and a sign for those who, like me, love exploring museum side rooms and finding beauty in the everyday.
